Top Take-Aways

1. EXPECT NOTHING AND PREPARE FOR EVERYTHING

Fanshen did One Drop of Love as her thesis performance for her Masters in acting. She wasn’t sure if anyone wanted to see it beyond the 2-day performance but she prepared as if it would carry on and travel beyond then. She shared this motto she lives by:

2. NOTHING YOU DO IN LEARNING OR WORK IS WASTED

Fanshen knew she wanted to perform from as far back as 2nd Grade. She felt a calling to teaching and pursued it. She decided to take the two things that are dear to her and put them together. Fanshen encouraged us to see the overlap of the things we have learned and worked at and not to see anything as a waste.

3.  NOBODY MAKES IT ON THEIR OWN

Cox DiGiovanni has been friends with Hollywood Stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon since childhood. They had promised to support each other’s work when the time came. She reached out to them when she was releasing One Drop and asked for their support. She shares her thinking on doing that.

She also stated that what made her confident to approach Affleck and Damon was her confidence in her work and her preparedness.

4. #TRUTH #JUSTICE #LOVE

Fanshen shared some powerful insights on the connection between truth – acknowledging and telling the truth, justice – bringing justice to those who have been wrong and love. We can’t jump to love and have racial reconciliation without truth and justice.

5. TELL YOUR TRUTH

In her advice to those all who have to tell their story or create their product, Fanshen stressed the need to tell your truth. Don’t have in your mind the outcome around money. Have in mind your truth.
